Eka

The structure

Multiple panels cut to the curve of the waist, joined by hand. The line they make is one. Eka means one.

Eka is built from many. Each panel is cut to a single radius, then joined to the next by saddle stitch. The seams disappear into the line they create. From three paces back, the belt reads as one piece. Closer in, you see the count of the stitches and the meeting of the leather. Eka means one. Not because the piece is made from one panel, but because what it makes at the waist is.
