Commission guide
How to measure.
Five measurements. A soft tape, a mirror, and ten minutes of stillness. The numbers you give me dictate every cut. Accuracy here is everything.
Front silhouette · measurements in inches
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Arms relaxed at your sides.
Wear a well-fitting bra. Do not pull the tape tight. It should skim the skin without indenting.
Underbust
Measure directly beneath the bust, around the ribcage where the bra band sits.
This measurement defines your corset's foundation. Exhale fully before reading the number.
Waist
Locate your natural waist, the narrowest point of your torso, usually an inch above the navel. Measure here.
Bend to the side; the crease that forms is your natural waist. Never measure at the hip bone.
Hip
Measure around the widest point of your hips and seat, usually 7–9 inches below the natural waist.
Stand with feet together. The tape should pass over the fullest curve of both sides equally.
Torso Length
From the base of the throat (the hollow between the collarbones) straight down to your natural waist.
Have someone help you measure this one. A mirror alone makes it easy to tilt the tape.
Once you have the numbers
Enter them in the commission form. I will verify everything on our call before the pattern is drafted.
Important
Measurements must be given in inches, except for height which is in centimetres. If you measured in centimetres, divide by 2.54.
Re-measure if in doubt
Take each measurement twice, on different days, at the same time of day. Use the smaller number for a closer fit, the larger for comfort.
